First of all, welcome to our new MinneTESOL members! Our
membership is at an all-time high of 481. On behalf of the MinneTESOL
Board, we welcome all the new and returning members to this important and

Conference:
Our 2005 Fall Conference in
November was the the largest we've had, with 445 ESL professionals in
attendance. Thank you for coming! Thanks so much to all the 2005

deadline for submissions to the MinneWITESOL Journal. A Call for Paper

International language center
in expansion seeks highly qualified NATIVE ENGLISH-SPEAKING AMERICAN AND
CANADIAN TEACHERS to teach English in Mexico (Mexico City and Toluca) to
school-aged children, university students and business executives.
Qualified candidates are ESL/EFL certified teachers with at least two
years of teaching experience abroad, survival level of Spanish, computer
proficiency, strong leadership and social skills, and are capable of
adapting to new cultures and change.
We offer a year-long contract
(starting January 9, 2006), benefits after 60 days probation period, that
includes: health insurance, paid return airfare, paid vacation, holidays,
living accommodations, internet access, assistance obtaining work permit,

languages, seeks highly qualified INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC COORDINATOR AND
LANGUAGE EXPERT for its facilities in Toluca, Mexico. We desire an
individual who is self-motivated, capable of adapting to new cultures and
continuous change, and has teaching and administrative experience,
effective presentation skills, excellent level of English and Spanish,
computer proficiency, and strong leadership and social skills.
The
selected candidate is expected to coordinate courses and other local
language services, analyze students' needs and requirements, create
individualized programs from our general curriculum, review teachers'
lesson plans, supervise and provide continuous feedback to teachers and
students, support material development, conduct presentations on our
programs (online, classroom and corporate) and academic methods, and will
report directly to the CEO.

Professional Opportunity
Hamline University and Relief International-Schools Online (RI-SOL) are
pleased to announce the East India-Bangladesh EFL Institute. Through funding
from a Department of State Grant, Hamline University, in partnership with
RI-SOL, will be offering a two-week intensive training on Teaching English
as Foreign Language in April 2006. The training will be aimed at the middle
school level and will involve 30 teachers from East India and Bangladesh.
Immediately following the training, the teachers will complete three-weeks
of work shadowing with both ESL and content-area middle school teachers
in the Twin Cities.
We are now seeking passionate, enthusiastic middle school ESL and
content area teachers who would like to*
· Welcome a pair of teachers into their classroom for 3 weeks from
April 24 to May 12, 2006.
· Invite the teachers to assist with activities, help learning groups,
interact with students in your classes, and implement lessons.
· Exchange cultural perspectives on teaching and learning.
· Learn about practices used in classes in India and Bangladesh.
· Reflect on the experiences and share perspectives at a weekly evening
seminar at Hamline.
Your participation in the program also makes you eligible for a competitive
10-day teaching tour of South Asia in November 2006 or January
2007 with other teachers and a Hamline faculty member.
OTHER OPPORTUNTIES
You get be involved in other ways:
· Cultural liaison- accompany 3 teachers from India or Bangladesh to 2
cultural events in the Twin Cities and welcome them into your home one
time for dinner between April 10 -21 while they are completing the training
at Hamline.
· Home stays- open your home up to 1 or 2 teachers for 3 weeks from April
22 through May 13 while they are taking part in the work-shadowing
experience.
