Poster Contest Epilogue
Impact of our Fall Poster Contest

This note was submitted by Poster Contest Winner Josue's teacher, Mindi Limberg, at Vista View Elementary in Burnsville

"Hi, just wanted to let you know that Josue, the poster contest winner, moved for a month, then returned. I'm thrilled to have him back. His father remained in New Mexico for work, so he and his mom are going it alone here. He gave most of the prize money to his mom as a surprise to help her pay the bills. I'm grateful for the opportunity you gave him and wanted you and the members of TESOL to know that the prize money made a real difference in the lives of one of our families."

We hope that new and experienced ABE staff will consider sharing their ideas and expertise with their colleagues at this statewide conference. The Call for Proposals form can be accessed on the Literacy Minnesota website: http://www.literacyminnesota.org/Summer_Institute.html

Presentation proposals will be reviewed by the conference planning committee. Presenters are strongly encouraged to review the scoring criteria as they are preparing their proposals. The 2009 Proposal Rating Rubric is available at the above website.

Proposals are due March 31, 2009, and presenters will be notified by May 15, 2009 whether their proposals have been accepted. In an effort to support presenters and ensure high-quality presentations, a handbook of presentation tips is also available online.
