What items are included in the registration fee?
Two great keynotes, engaging breakout sessions, continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, publishers’ exhibits, door-prize drawing, and alumni events. Parking is included (in the RiverCentre Ramp ONLY) on a first-come first-served basis. (Please note: A parking voucher will be emailed to conference attendees a week before the conference, to be printed at home before the conference. Please see “When will I receive my parking voucher and how do I redeem it" section below for additional parking voucher information.) All conference attendees will also receive a conference folder with CEs, and other conference materials.
What items are NOT covered in the registration fee?
In order to keep the registration cost affordable for our attendees, the 2019 MELEd Conference registration fee does NOT include lunch. Each day there will be a 90-minute break for lunch. Attendees may either purchase a voucher at the time of registration that may be used at lunch vendors at the RiverCentre or we encourage attendees to visit one of the many nearby cafes/restaurants for lunch. RiverCentre vendors will also accept cash/credit purchases throughout the conference.
Thursday’s EL Coordinator meeting is not included in the registration fee for the MELEd Conference. If you are interested in attending the EL Coordinator Meeting, you need to register separately. The cost is $79 per individual attending and you can register here.
What time does the keynote start?
On Friday, November 22 the morning announcements and the introduction for the keynote speaker will begin at 8:30am. The keynote speaker will present from 9-10am.
On Saturday, November 23 the morning announcements and the introduction for the keynote speaker will begin at 8:15am. The keynote speaker will present from 8:30-9:30am.
When will I receive my parking voucher and how do I redeem it?
Parking is included in the registration cost for the conference. A PDF of the parking voucher will be emailed out to conference attendees a week prior to the conference. If you did not receive the email or lost the link – please click HERE to access the vouchers and to print them out.
Parking vouchers are only valid for the RiverCentre Parking Ramp (150 West Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul) ONLY on a first-come, first-serve basis. Drivers must have a printed copy of the voucher to present to the booth attendant upon arrival to the ramp to redeem for complimentary parking each day.
Drivers may enter the ramp either through the Kellogg Blvd. (“top") or Shepard Road (“bottom") entrances but they must enter through a lane with a green arrow on the booth indicating a staff member is staffing the booth. This voucher cannot be redeemed in “credit card only" lanes. This voucher can begin being redeemed as early as 6:00am on weekdays or 6:30am on weekends. Vouchers are valid for one-time use and cannot be used for re-entry.
Clearance for the RiverCentre Ramp is 6’ 9." There are ADA accessible parking spaces on all levels of the ramp. Overnight parking in the ramp is not allowed.
I can't find my CEs. How can I get a new copy?
All conference attendees will receive CEs in their conference folders. Please keep track of your folders. If you lose your folder or CEs, please contact MDE (firstname.lastname@example.org) for duplicate CEs.
What is the EL Coordinator meeting?
The EL Coordinator meeting takes place on Thursday, November 21 and is organized by the Minnesota Department of Education. Thursday’s EL Coordinator meeting is not included in the MELEd Conference registration fee. If you are interested in attending this meetings, you need to register separately HERE.
The EL Coordinator's Meeting is for K-12 English Learner Program Coordinators from Minnesota school districts and charter schools. The meeting will include updates from the Minnesota Department of Education related to English Learner programming and assessment as well as policy issues and other initiatives impacting English Learners in Minnesota.
Do presenters need to register for the conference?
Yes. Presenters pay a reduced rate. No code is necessary-presenters may register using the designated category.
I registered for the conference but now I am unable to attend. May I receive a refund?
Refunds (less processing fees) will be given for requests made through November 8, 2019. Please contact the conference co-chairs if you need to cancel your registration. Refunds will not be given after November 8, 2019.
I made a mistake when I registered online. How can I correct it?
I need to register a group. How can I do this?
Groups of five or more from the same institution can register with a paper form before November 15, 2019. After the deadline, please follow the directions on the bottom of the How to Register page.
Please note, we do not accept Purchase Orders as payment for the conference. Groups may pay via check or credit card.

I don’t like to share personal information, such as registration information, online. May I still attend the conference?
All registration for the conference is online. Payment for the conference must be done via the secure online system. All major credit cards are accepted. You do not need a PayPal account (or any other kind of online payment account) to securely make an online payment with your credit card
I wish to pay the discounted member/conference rate, but I already joined earlier this year. Can I still get the member/conference rate?
Yes. Log into the registration page using the same email address you used to become a MinneTESOL member. The system will recognize you as a member and unlock member registration prices for you.

Will there be a mother's room onsite at the conference?
Yes, there is a mother's room located on the Ballroom Concourse – the room has a deadbolt that shows “vacant” or occupied on the exterior of the door when in use.
GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS
Are grants or scholarships available to cover registration fees or memberships?
Yes, grants or scholarships are available. Please read on for different types.

Up to 60 volunteers may receive registration reimbursement upon completion of 2 or 3 hour volunteer shifts during the conference. Volunteers will receive volunteer assignments via email around November 2nd.
To be eligible, applicants must fulfill one of the following roles: registration table, room assistant, or silent auction table during the conference.
Interested volunteers need to register and pay for registration prior to volunteering at the conference. Eligible volunteers may receive reimbursement for conference registration for the day of the conference for which they volunteer upon completion of 2-3 hour volunteer shift.
Due to volume of interest, the number of reimbursements given to members of a single institution will be capped at 5-6 volunteers. Reimbursements will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Conference attendees traveling over 100 miles to attend the conference are invited to apply for travel scholarships up to $250, to be used for travel and accommodations. You must first register for the conference before applying for a scholarship. These limited scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis to MinneTESOL members only; priority will be given to applicants who have not used the scholarship within the past three years, but all are encouraged to apply!
First-Time Presenter Scholarship
In order to encourage participating from exciting new contributors to our conference, we are offering a scholarship for first-time MELEd presenters (who are also MinneTESOL members). Members presenting at MELEd* for the first time are invited to apply for this scholarship upon acceptance to present at the conference. Scholarship winners will register and pay for their conference fee and after participating in the conference, coordinate with the conference co-chairs to receive reimbursement for one day's registration costs.
*Members who have previously presented at MELEd, MinneTESOL, or MinneSLIFE are not eligible for this scholarship.
