What items are included in the registration fee?

Two great keynotes, engaging breakout sessions, continental breakfast, coffee/tea and afternoon snacks, publishers’ exhibits, door-prize drawing, and alumni events. All conference attendees will also receive a conference folder with CEUs, and other conference materials. Parking and lunch are NOT included in the registration fee (parking and lunch are self-pay for 2024).

Do presenters need to register for the conference?

Yes. All presenters need to register for the conference, regardless of the length of their presentation and whether they intend to see any other sessions.

I don’t like to share personal information, such as registration information, online. May I still attend the conference?

All registration for the conference is online. Payment for the conference must be done via the secure online system. All major credit cards are accepted. You do not need an PayPal account (or any other kind of online payment account) to securely make an online payment with your credit card.

What IS NOT covered in the registration fee?

Parking and lunch are NOT included in the MELEd registration fee (parking and lunch are self-pay for 2024).

Thursday’s MDE EL/MLL Coordinator Day is not included in the registration fee for the MELEd Conference. If you are interested in attending the MDE EL/MLL Coordinator Day, you need to register separately.

In order to keep the registration cost affordable for our attendees, the 2024 MELEd Conference registration fee does NOT include lunch or parking. Each day there will be a 90-minute break for lunch. Attendees may purchase lunch on their own at one of the cafés at the RiverCentre. Also, we encourage attendees to visit some of the one of the many nearby cafes/restaurants for lunch.

I registered for the conference but now I am unable to attend. May I receive a refund?

Refunds (less processing fees) will be given for requests made through November 1, 2024.  Please email [email protected] to cancel your registration. Refunds will not be given after November 1, 2024

If you are unable to attend and would like someone to attend in your place, please email [email protected]. Requests for attendee swaps must be received by November 15, 2024.

I wish to pay the discounted member/conference rate, but I already joined earlier this year. Can I still get the member/conference rate?

Yes. Log into the registration page using the same email address you used to become a MinneTESOL member. The system will recognize you as a member and unlock member registration prices for you.

If you need to renew your membership, please do so prior to registering for the conference to receive member prices. Click HERE to renew your membership today!

I can’t find my CEs. How can I get a new copy?

All conference attendees will receive CEs in their conference folders. Please keep track of your folders. If you lose your folder or CEs, please contact MDE ([email protected]) for duplicate CEs.

I made a mistake when I registered online. How can I correct it?

What is the EL Coordinator meeting?

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) English Learner/Multilingual Learner Coordinator Day is for K-12 English Learner and Multilingual Learner Program Coordinators from Minnesota School Districts and Charter Schools. This session will include updates from the Minnesota Department of Education related to English Learner programming and assessment as well as policy issues and other initiatives impacting multilingual learners in Minnesota.

This year’s MDE K-12 EL/MLL Coordinator Day will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Thursday’s MDE EL/MLL Coordinator Day is not included in the registration fee for the MELEd Conference. If you are interested in attending the MDE EL/MLL Coordinator Day, you need to register separately.

The EL Coordinator’s Meeting is for K-12 English Learner Program Coordinators from Minnesota school districts and charter schools. The meeting will include updates from the Minnesota Department of Education related to English Learner programming and assessment as well as policy issues and other initiatives impacting English Learners in Minnesota.

I need to register a group. How can I do this?

Groups of five or more from the same institution can register with a paper or virtual form before November 14, 2024. (You will mail in the form to MinneTESOL via USPS, or via email.) The group registration form is available here.

Please note, we do not accept Purchase Orders as payment for the conference. Groups may pay via check or credit card.

Scholarships
First-Time Attendees

NEW  In order to encourage attendance from new ELT professionals, we are offering a scholarship for first-time attendees (who are also MinneTESOL members).

Scholarship winners will coordinate with the conference co-chairs to receive reimbursement for one day’s registration costs.

First-Time Presenter Scholarship

We are offering a scholarship for first-time MELEd presenters (who are also MinneTESOL members) to encourage exciting new contributors to attend our conference. Members presenting at MELEd* for the first time are invited to apply for this scholarship upon acceptance to present at the conference.

Scholarship winners will receive reimbursement for one day’s registration costs.

First-time presenters will be e-mailed a scholarship application. 

*Members who have previously presented at MELEd, MinneTESOL, or MinneSLIFE are not eligible for this scholarship.

Travel Scholarships

This year MinneTESOL is again making available a limited number of scholarships for its members to defray the cost of travel to the 2024 MELEd Conference. To apply for a travel scholarship, click here. 

  • Travel scholarships are only available as a benefit to current members of MinneTESOL (see https://minnetesol.org/become-a-member/ to join or renew your membership).
  • These scholarships will cover a maximum of $250 in travel expenses (transportation and accommodations).
  • Travel scholarships are available only to MinneTESOL members traveling 100 miles or more to the conference.
