Because, But, So: Writing Strategies to Advance Thinking in All Subjects and Grades K-12

Featured in Judith Hochman and Natalie Wexler’s The Writing Revolution, Because, But, So is a high leverage sentence expansion and reading comprehension strategy that asks students to demonstrate their thinking and formulate increasingly complex sentence constructions. We will review examples of this exercise utilized across contexts, gain firsthand experience in implementing the strategy and plan for its incorporation into an upcoming lesson.
