Statement on Racial Injustice and Equality

In solidarity with the Twin Cities communities, communities across the United States, and TESOL International Association, MinneTESOL extends and supports TESOL’s statement on racial injustice and inequality. As Minnesota’s TESOL affiliate, we believe it’s important to work in concert with the community to end violence against minorities and help our learners feel secure.

MinneTESOL will continue this conversation as an organization in depth with our membership over the summer. Until then, we invite you to consider the following resources about anti-racism.

Resources:

  1. Scaffolded Anti-Racist Resources by Anna Stamborski, M. Div Candidate (2022), Nikki Zimmermann, M. Div candidate (2021), Bailie Gregory, M. Div, M.S. Ed.
  2. “Talking About Racism and Violence: Resources for Educators and Families” resource page from Colorin Colorado
  3. Teaching About Race, Racism And Police Violence” from Teaching Tolerance

Attend the TESOL Advocacy & Policy Summit

MinneTESOL is sending a group of educators from the Advocacy Interest Section to attend the online Summit. If you would like to join this group, with funding from MinneTESOL, contact Advocacy IS leader Leah Soderlund at [email protected].

A full report from the MinneTESOL attendees of the Advocacy Summit will be featured in an upcoming Newsletter.
